Robio...
The godfather of the Lovefest - RobioCup. The best looking and best dressed on the course. Robio needs no introduction but for those who enjoy learning more about the legend, I love sports and enjoy hanging out with friends and family. I've played baseball, hockey and golf my entire life. I put this outing together over 18 years ago. Starting with 20 guys I never really thought it would grow to 88! It's great meeting new friends as they come to enjoy the competition and camaraderie the outing brings. Besides friends, I have been able to enjoy the outing with my father, brothers and my son, which has been a treat. Michele and I have been married 14 years and it's great that she puts up with me every year as I put this together and spend countless hours planning, commiserating and reveling in all the outing brings before and after the weekend. I have 4 sons - Bryan, Brad, Will and Aidan. This outing has allowed me to share the game with Bryan, Will and Aidan. Brad is a gamer and Bryan is a regular Robiocup member. Will and Aidan made their fist appearance in 2022. They played great and had a great time. I bleed Robio Red. In the infamous words of Medium Johnny, "Nobody Loves Robio More Than Robio"...and nobody probably loves this weekend more than me either. |
Bones ~
Class of 2010 13 year veteran of team Robio and assistant captain. One of Robio's behind the scenes strategy consultants. Favorite Robiocup Memories: The many adventures of rooming with The Mayor; being the meat of a T-Bone/Big Ricky sandwich; Having Pope explain how he would've won if not for a swing-and-a-miss. |
Mayor ~
Class of 2009 It was a sparkling summer evening, 2009, when the legend of The Mayor was born. Obligated to entertain the thralls of young vixens present, Mayor & Norton did the only thing possible. They lied. Concocting a story that only those little lasses might believe, Neal became the Mayor of Grand Haven and Norton a former NHL Player and current broadcaster for Hockey Night in Canada, in town for the upcoming Wings game. Word quickly spread, the Mayor of Grand Haven was shortened to The Mayor and ultimately, Mayor. Lovefest brethren assumed significant roles of city councilman and other worthy constituents, reminding the Mayor t take it easy, as there was an important council meeting only days away. The evening was memorable, aided by live music, spirits and the solo slow dancing of the Rock. Eventually the Mayor, upholding those ethics which would eventually lead him to law school , let the fawning doves know the truth. He was a mere label salesman while Norton was in logistics. Anticipating appreciation for his noble honesty, the Mayor was instead greeted with disdain, as the lovelies walked off in disgust, never to be heard from again. Perhaps their parents had arrived to pick them up. The lesson learned? When you start lying, keep lying. The truth hurts! A Ten year veteran of the Robio Cup and 2007 Golfer of the Year, once an A player but now a C due to hard work and training, the Mayor enjoys his three children, the law school experience, rat hockey and competitive volleyball. Son of the original Silver fox ad Gloria Hermanson, the Mayor has two brothers, Big Guy and Tokyo Rick and three cats. |
Brian Hastings ~
Class of 2018 aka - Trash After 27 years of military service in aerial high-explosive desert landscaping and then producing the world's boldest pilots and leaders, I decided to retire and continue my public service in state government as a storm chaser. I am married with three boys and after moving 15 times, we decided to transition to our next chapter in life in the heart of Dixie. While contemplating my future and the possible existence of hot vibrating time - space in the universe, Robio pulled me up from the golf minors to be a part of his all-star team. What an honor to join such a prestigious group. |
Rick ~ Class of 2011
aka - BRO... First I have to say is that its great to be on Team Robio! I was born in Los Angeles and completed college and graduate school in Southern California. He and his wife Lucy, twin boys, Dylan and Ryan and daughter, Lucia, moved from San Diego to Illinois in 2003 for a position with KPMG. Rick continues to work for KPMG today as a Managing Director. His responsibilities include negotiating contracts and helping the firm manage its risk exposures. When he is not working, he enjoys crashing golf carts, chewing on deer bones and tormenting Robio. |
Larry Harb ~
Class of 2017 aka - 3 Putt Larry aka 3PL Larry is the CEO of IT Risk Manager, Inc based in Okemos, Michigan. He grew up in Oak park IL and graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1975. Harb received his MBA from Northwestern University. He has been married for 36 years(same wife) and has no kids. He loves to travel and enjoys all outdoor sports including hunting, fishing and yes golf. Harb says..."I have been hearing about the Robiocup event for years, so why not play in it?" |
Tony Ivkovich
Class of 2017 aka - Ike aka - Coach I currently live in Bartlett, IL. BHS 83 - Basketball MVP 81-82 season. Some guy named Jackson beat me out my senior year. I was on the golf team at BHS but my score only counted a handful of times(you have to be in top 5). Now I only golf about 6 times a summer so the outing will double my holes for the season. I played basketball and soccer at Benedictine in Lisle where I received my teaching degree. I have taught (26 years) middle school PE at Hill middle school - Northwest Naperville. I have coached bball, soccer, football and track. I am the director of our student trips to Springfield/St. Louis(7th) and Washington D.C(8th grade). We take about 200 kids on each trip. I also run numerous youth Bball camps throughout the year for ages 6-14. I'm on my 2nd marriage after my practice wife. My lovely wife Sharon had 3 sons that are now my stepsons. Ryan 33, Mike 32 and Josh 29. My daughters from the 1st are Samantha 28 and Jenna 26. Our son together is TJ and he is 19 and he played soccer. I'm not a big fisherman but my son wanted to deep sea fish. I did catch this barracuda but my little Mexican friend held it for me as I was afraid of those big teeth. |
Gary King ~
Class of 2016 aka - (in no particular order depending on situation) Hairless Trio(as demonstrated by photo), Black Cloud, Dirk, Fucking Gary, Brown Booze Gary and of course GKII. Proud father of 3(Gary III(Triple Stix-currently no bio, Connor-17, Kamryn-13) married to Kathy. She is the real reason anyone talks to me, Just ask Sharkey. Third best male golfer in the family. Have been known to enjoy a nice glass of Brown Booze and a Cigar. Nothing phallic about that at all, I swear. Can't drink vodka or I'll get the HS singlet out, again just ask Sharkey. I have been to Gull Lake many times over the years, but never really experienced what this place has to offer until the 2016 Robiocup. Happy to be part of the dysfunctional family. |
Tim McAleer ~
Class of 2013 aka - Roofer I'm always asked why do they call me Roofer - Figjam thought they called me Roofer because I would score goals in hockey by roofing it because the first and only game I ever played with the Figjam Goodfellas hockey team I roofed two goals. The one to tie the game and then the game winner. We were in the locker room after the game and Figjam says, " Wow, now I know why they call you roofer." I responded - oh, you know I'm a roofer? " Yes boys, I put up new roofs on homes and can fix existing roofs. I had one hell of a practice wife. 8-13-88 was the start of more than what I would call practice! More like a prison sentence. Wow - Practice it was not! Now I'm on marriage #2 and I have no complaints. But it's only been a couple years. What's important is repeating as Champions! |
Raj Das ~
Class of 2017 BHS '86. Moved up north in '99. Daughter is going to Kansas, son is at Lake Forest High School, dog on the couch and the wife is shaking her head & rolling her eyes at the Robiocup. Golf game is best described as long & wrong, with rare moments of sheer brilliance (aka dumb luck) Mental approach to life is Alan Shepard's prayer "Dear Lord, please don't let me f&^ up" Still drive a stick shit and cut my own grass. |
Greg ~
Class of 2016 aka - GMoney - Yes, I won big money last year as a rookie. I have been hearing about this event years ago when my 3 boys were playing mite hockey with or against Robio and Figjam's boys. Finally I attended last year. As a rookie I was on the winning team and got to hoist the Cup! I was paired with the Sweedish sensation, Rooferson, in the horserace. It was a great Saturday as I was on fire (en Fuego) and plan on repeating this year as Team Robio defends the title and Rooferson and I defend our horserace title. Between winning money at the Robiocup and Robio's superbowl party I am able to fund my trip back to Pure Michigan. The lesson here boys is that it's always better to be lucky than good! |
Mike Guzzardi ~
Class of 2013 aka - Sausage, because I make the best sausage in town. From sweet, mild, hot and black pepper you won't find anything better! It's the Friday night meal you use to enjoy coming off the 18th green. Since the Mayor voiced his displeasure two years ago we now grill and enjoy back at the Villas. Don't be late - typically the last 4-6 guys are SOL and it's not because I don't bring enough. Each year T-Bone tries to beat me with the best Stache - I groom mine the entire year and it's nothing short of perfection when I arrive in Pure Michigan to face team blue. |
Johnny ~
Class of 2011 John was born on the south side of Chicago to a large Irish Catholic family. He is the youngest of 8 kids to a printer and homemaker and moved to LaGrange at the tender young age of 5. John graduated from Winona State University with degrees in Marketing and Communications where he played 2 years as a wide receiver for the WSU Warriors at a spry playing weight of 127 lbs. After graduating from WSU John worked at Kemmerer Bottling group for 5 years before his renewed passion for sports brought him to the Kane County Cougars as a group ticket sales rep. The financial burdens of working in minor league sports and carrying a mortgage caused John to take on additional responsibilities for the Cougars by performing "Ozzie the Cougar" mascot appearances for $50 a pop. This culminated in a two-year guest stint doing local appearances for Sesame Street Live as "The Cookie Monster". John's crowning sports achievement was fulfilled when he threw out the 1st pitch as the Cookie Monster in 1994 at Wrigley Field and again in 1995 at US Comiskular park. John resides in Plainfield with his beautiful wife Linda, and their three children Aidan (13), Quinn (10) and Tierney (8). John is a heavy drinker on the course but you wouldn't know it from his abilities to save par or eek out a birdie from the toughest of lies. John's heroes include the Pope, Big Ricky Obama and Robio whom for he coined the phrase "Nobody Loves Robio More Than Robio" |
Tom Kenney ~
Class of 2013 2021 Rock of the Year Silver Fox…… Hailing out of Plainfield IL, this good looking left hander has been known to have a few “adult beverages” with the boys. This NOT so young lad Weighing in at 175 lbs with a fresh “Tom Tom” (Ketel One and Water with MIO) in hand and a golf club in the other is always ready to have some fun or play a little golf. The Fox has a small health insurance agency in Naperville basically working with small groups and individual health insurance plans. The Ole Master (TOM) also works on Long Term Care, Life Insurance etc in case some of you “Young Bucks” out there need any help in that arena. If you have any questions or need some drunken advice pull up a bar stool and let the games begin! Look forward to having some good food, lots of laughs and a GREAT time playing with a lot of fun people. Silver Fox signing off |
Tom Wysoglad ~
Class of 2006 aka - Pops Not to be confused with Tom jr.(aka Tommy, Mush)is the oldest charter member of the one-and-only illustrious RobioCup. As the Patriarch of the Wyso clan, I am proud to say that my contributions to this August club are noteworthy, given that my offspring, Tom jr(Mush), Rob(Robio) and Scot(Scooter) and my grandchildren Bryan(Flanagan) and Zac(OneDog) and my granddaughter's husband Frank(Turtle) make it three generations of golfers. I really look forward to every August because I get to socialize with many of the guys that made our home their home starting about 35-40 years ago while in little league, playing soccer, hanging out, or attending those Wyso parties when the folks were away for the weekend. And I do get to enjoy some golf, sometimes for the first time that year. I'm looking forward to enjoying a great weekend of golf, drink, and food: We do love Robio almost as much as Robio loves Robio! |
Scooter ~
Class of 2006 Aka ~ Jorts I still own my first pair of jorts I got back in 1980. Along wit my jorts you will not see me without my tube socks. I'm also an avid photographer - no picture is off limits! Rock, call me anytime. I've been married over 20 years to Traci with two girls Kate and Kelli. Kate and Turtle have given us two wonderful grandkids. My golf season starts on Thursday in August and ends on Sunday! |

Class of 2015 aka ~ Turtle / Frank the Tank 4th year on team Robio - Nicknamed socially "Frank the Tank" for obvious reasons and dubbed "Turtle" during my rookie season by BRO. Son-in-law to Scott "Scooter" and father to two boys Caleb 5 & Donovan 2. Sidewinder teammate to cousin Zac "OneDog". Looking forward to drinking some whiskey and helping team Robio repeat! |
GC ~
Class of 2012 I am a six year veteran of the Robio Lovefest. I am a happily married man so none of you homos touch me. I have a 16 yr old daughter and live in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago. I have been friends with Robio since grade school. We played on several championship little league teams which we also coached by Pops. We went to junior high and high school together along with several other participants of the lovefest. I am employed as a human garbage collector for the City of Chicago also known as a Sergeant for the Chicago Police Department. I love to play golf as it gets me away from the work and the ghetto nonsense. |
Chuck Machaj
Class of 2018 aka - House I'm married for 24 years and have one kid in college, two kids in HS and two big dogs. I would play golf every day if I could, but I can't. The only sport I like ore than golf is baseball. Sometimes I drink too much at golf outings, but whether I do or not doesn't affect my score. If you find a ball that says "try not to suck" that's mine and I've obviously failed. |
Tim Callahan~
Class of 2017 aka Kid Cal Kid Cal is truly a legend in his own mind. He lives at home with his parents and his loving dog Marshmallow. He's short off the tee, but he makes up for it with his horrendous short game. He is an international man of mystery and enjoys many hobbies, including scrape booking and on line chess. |
Rich Ostopowicz~
Class of 2011 aka ~ Chuck Brown - I'm told I look like Charlie Brown. I don't see the resemblance - Maybe my hair. My 4th year at the Robiocup. I came to the Robiocup after I tried my luck at baseball. I was awesome with the Mets but couldn't agree on a contract. It didn't take long to agree on a contract to play for Team Robio so it made the decision easy to put the bat away for the putter. I'm looking forward to helping Team Robio repeat in 2017! |
